How JoyRidr Works
JoyRidr is a membership-based recreational asset exchange club. You list what you own, earn credits, and use those credits to book other members' assets across North America. No commissions. No per-booking fees. Just a flat annual membership that pays for itself the first time you use it.
The Core Idea
Most recreational asset owners use their assets a fraction of the time they're available. A boat sits at the dock. An RV sits in the driveway. A cabin sits empty for 40 weeks a year.
JoyRidr turns that idle time into adventure. You share your asset with other verified members. They share theirs with you. The platform facilitates the exchange — with trust, reviews, and a credit system that keeps everything fair.
The result: more adventures for everyone, at a fraction of the cost of traditional rentals. No Airbnb commissions. No Turo fees. Just a membership.
Two Ways to Join
JoyRidr has two membership paths. Most members start as full members (Path B) — but if you want to explore the platform before committing, Path A lets you browse first.

Join the Club
Complete the full onboarding journey: profile, ID verification, payment method, and asset submission. Once your asset is approved, you're a full member with 24 credits per year and access to the entire network.

Sign up with just your email to explore the platform before committing. Browse the full asset directory post-launch, receive updates, and upgrade to full membership whenever you're ready.
The Full Member Journey
Here's exactly what happens when you join JoyRidr as a full member (Path B).
Sign Up & Verify Your Identity
Create your account with your email address. Complete your profile with your name, phone, address, and photo. Then verify your identity via Stripe Identity — a quick, secure process using a government-issued ID. This step establishes trust across the entire community.
Takes about 5 minutes. Required for all full members.
Add Your Payment Method
Add your payment method via Stripe. This is a secure setup — no charge happens until launch day. The moment you add your payment method, your current discount tier is locked permanently. Your rate never increases, even when we raise prices for new members.

List Your Recreational Asset
Add at least one recreational asset to the platform. You can import directly from Airbnb, Vrbo, RVShare, Outdoorsy, RVezy, Boatsetter, GetMyBoat, or Turo — or create a listing manually. Our team reviews every submission within 48 hours.

Get Approved & Earn Credits
Once your asset is approved and published, you receive 24 credits per year — one for every night of adventure. Credits reset annually on your membership anniversary. No rollover, but you earn bonus credits when you share your asset early in the season.

Browse & Book
Search the full JoyRidr network by location, category, dates, and rate. Book using your credits (1 credit per night) or pay cash. Booking is instant — no host approval required. A 30-minute temporary hold prevents double-booking while you complete payment.

Share, Earn, Repeat
Other members book your asset and you earn the satisfaction of a reciprocal community. Keep your sharing obligation met (10–40 days/year depending on your asset tier) and you maintain full credit booking access. The more you share, the more you can explore.
Sharing obligation: Tier 1 (10–35 days/yr), Tier 2 (15–40 days/yr).
The Credit System
Credits are the currency of the JoyRidr exchange. They're simple, transparent, and designed to keep the community fair.
HOW CREDITS WORK IN PRACTICE
You book a 3-night stay at a member's lake cabin. That costs 3 credits plus any cleaning fee the host has set. The cleaning fee is paid via Stripe. The 3 credits are deducted from your balance immediately.
You can also pay cash for any booking — useful if you've used your credits for the year or don't yet have an approved asset.
Credits require at least one approved asset AND a met sharing obligation. If you unpublish all your assets or fall behind on your sharing obligation, you'll be restricted to cash-only booking until resolved.

Trust & Safety
JoyRidr is built on verified identity and community accountability. Here's how we maintain trust across the network.
Stripe Identity Verification
Every full member verifies their government-issued ID through Stripe Identity. No anonymous members.
Admin-Reviewed Assets
Every asset is reviewed and approved by our team before it goes live. We check photos, value documentation, and listing accuracy.
Bidirectional Reviews
Both guests and hosts leave reviews after every completed booking. Reviews are visible on public profiles.
Two-Tier Asset Classification
Assets are classified as Tier 1 ($75K+ value) or Tier 2 (<$75K) during approval. Tier determines sharing obligation range.
Dispute Resolution
Members can raise disputes on any active or recently completed booking. Our admin team reviews and issues final decisions.
Sharing Obligation System
Members who don't meet their sharing obligation lose credit booking access until the obligation is fulfilled. This keeps the exchange fair.
